Long Island University (Moses)

Long Island University will identify, preserve, and make accessible hundreds of thousands of hard copy New York State Parks-housed historical documents that showcase the legacy of celebrated urban planner Robert Moses who shaped Long Island’s parks, recreation facilities, bridges, and highways.

LIU Post’s Palmer School of Library and Information Science will provide the professional expertise and technical skills to preserve and make accessible the State Parks’ extensive Robert Moses collection that is currently housed in three locations: Long Island State Parks Headquarters at Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon; Planting Fields Arboretum in Upper Brookville; and Peebles Island State Park in Saratoga County, New York. Digitized images will be posted on the Website of the New York State Archives and Records Administration.
