The RDLGF awarded the Jazz Loft a $40,000 grant to support a project that will create a modern, functioning space for the Loft’s archiving  project to inventory and digitalize the more than 10,000 historical Jazz artifacts in the possession of the museum and renovate the building’s basement, which dates to the 1770’s, to serve as the archive project’s center of operation. This project will extend the useful life of materials, which include not only paper records, but actual historic vinyl records of Jazz legends past and present. The project will enable the Jazz Loft to digitalize sheet music, posters, photos, personal journals, manuscripts and programs, with the goal of providing accessibility to a broader audience of institutions and individuals.
