The Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame
About The Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame
Established in 2004, the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating the rich music and entertainment heritage of Long Island—from Brooklyn to Montauk—and supporting music and arts education for future generations. The organization honors artists across all genres, including classical, jazz, rock, hip-hop, and more.
In 2022, LIMEHOF opened its permanent museum in Stony Brook Village. This two-story, state-of-the-art facility features:
- Rotating exhibitions that showcase iconic artists and cultural milestones. The museum is currently featuring the popular Billy Joel: My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey exhibition.
- A Hall of Fame that recognizes over 140 inductees.
- A film screening room for documentaries and multimedia presentations.
- A performance and special event space for concerts and special events.
LIMEHOF also offers educational programs and scholarships to students pursuing music and the arts. The organization proudly sponsors the annual Educator of Note award, which honors outstanding contributions to music education.
Interactive Kiosks
Recognizing the importance of accessibility and engagement, the Long Island Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame is introducing interactive touchscreen kiosks to enhance the way guests explore Long Island’s rich musical and entertainment heritage.
Thanks to generous funding from the Gardiner Foundation, two state-of-the-art kiosks will be installed—one in the Hall of Fame and one in the Exhibition space. These sleek, user-friendly kiosks will offer a multi-sensory experience, allowing visitors to:
- Browse detailed biographies and achievements of over 140 Hall of Fame inductees
- Explore interactive timelines and maps highlighting Long Island’s musical milestones
- Watch video clips, interviews, and archival footage
- View high-resolution images from past exhibitions and performances
- Search for specific artists, genres, or historical moments with intuitive navigation
Designed to appeal to all ages and learning styles, the kiosks will serve as digital storytellers—bringing the sounds, faces, and legacies of Long Island’s entertainment icons to life.
